Nassarawa will resist any attempt to frustrate Al-Makura>>>APC warns

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Musa Yahaya Azara, on Tuesday warned that any attempt by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest or detain Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura based on a fictitious petition to frustrate his national chairmanship ambition will be strongly resisted by the entire people of the state.

Azara gave the warning in Lafia when interacting with journalists on the fall out of the alleged invitation of the erstwhile governor by the EFCC recently.

The APC chieftain dismissed the alleged invitation of the former governor by the EFCC with a wave of the hand that it would not affect the senator's ambition to become the next national chairman of the APC.

He maintained that Senator Al-Makura, who now represents Nasarawa South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, remains the best governor among all the governors that have governed the state so far, noting that he ran the most transparent and accountable administration in the state.

Azara added that the former governor has a clean financial bill as far as his tenure as the governor of Nasarawa State was concerned, stating further that prior to his assumption of office as governor of the state in 2011, Nasarawa State was a glorified village.

"If you see any good road, street, school, hospital in Nasarawa State today, it was built by Senator Al-Makura. He opened up the state for us and we will continue to be ever grateful to him for the developmental strides he brought to the state," he said.

He added that those trying to frustrate Senator Al-Makura's bid to be the next APC national chairman using EFCC were enemies and do not mean well for the APC, maintaining that such people would not succeed.

"If APC is looking for an accountable and transparent chairman, I think Senator Al-Makura is the person. If APC is looking for a peace and bridge builder, I think Senator Al-Makura remains the only option to go with," the Chieftain concluded.
