A JSS 1 student Gift Agenosia has sued the Ekiti state government seeking 15 million in damages after she was suspended for indecent dressing.
Gift was suspended after her father, a police Sergeant Elijah on May 22 mobilized four armed policemen to manhandle some teachers in the school for scolding his daughter who was accused of coming to school with an indecent hairdo against the school rules and regulations.
The student claimed she was given 20 lashes at the assembly resulting in bruises, life threatening scars, blood stained uniform and fainting. She is demanding 15 million compensation.
This brought a lot of reactions from Nigerians.

"Her dad has spoiled her case by taking laws into his hands.... Secondly, rules and regulations are meant to guide the students and teachers, so, anyone found doing the contrary is expected to face sanctions by way of punishment, suspension, expulsion etc. Thirdly, discipline is also a mandate of the school"
