Elon musk pays Hostess $250,000 to keep quiet over sexual harassment

5 Dead 3 injured in Bauchi road accident

Another crash that occurred on Thursday night has left five people dead while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident.

This is coming barely 24 hours after five people were burnt in a crash on Wednesday afternoon at Nabardo village along the Bauchi-Toro-Jos highway.

In that accident, nine others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash which involved two vehicles belonging to Gombe and Adamawa States’ Transport Companies as they had a head-on collision.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the latest incident to our correspondent, said that the crash occurred at Gubi village, along the Bauchi-Kano highway.

He said that the crash involved a vehicle and a tricycle. He added that 18 male adults were involved in the incident.

He said, “There was a fatal crash on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 7:42 pm, at Gubi village, along Bauchi-Kano road. The crash involved a Volkswagen Sharon commercial vehicle with registration number: KLW 641 ZA and a tricycle (Keke NAPEP) with registration number: BAU 01WL.

“The crash was caused by overloading and overspeed. A total of 18 male adults were involved in the crash. When we got a call, our men immediately rushed to the scene within 14 minutes for a rescue operation.

“They evacuated the victims to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for medical treatment and confirmation. On reaching there, a medical doctor confirmed five people dead. Three others sustained varying degrees of injuries.”

Abdullahi said that the obstructions were cleared to allow for free flow of traffic while the vehicles were handed over to the Motor Transport Department of the GRA Police Station.

He appealed to motorists to avoid practices that endanger their lives and that of others as well as properties saying, “They should obey road traffic rules and regulations which often lead to loss of lives and properties.

“We will not relent in calling on them. We are in the ember months and there is a high volume of vehicles on the road. We enjoin them to drive at reasonable speed limits.”
